Scope: Architecture (A&A) and Interior Design (260-key hotel and 396-key serviced apartments; 20 storeys; 29,000 sqm) Something new and Something Borrowed Inspired by the rich legacy of the Peranakans (or Straits Chinese), this luxe hotel and service apartment structure spread across several blocks that reach up to 20 storeys, boasts a a distinctly modern laser-cut roof pattern reminiscent of the ornate floral themes in Peranakan fabrics. Standing proud against the exotic cultural centre of Malacca, this multi-purpose building is destined to be another dramatic icon in a landscape of exuberant heritage, with its play of both solid and transparent interlocking portals of the hotel and serviced apartment blocks.
