naumi hotel: skyrise greenery, singapore
Creepers crawl up the ten storeys of the Naumi boutique hotel in Seah Street. On its facade, an origami-fold screen provides support for the growing creeper plants and act as a second screen insulating the building from direct sunlight. The geometric topiary screen is sustained by automatic irrigation and hydroponics and is almost maintenance free. Inside, a different greenery takes over. In the lobby and rooms, a botanic motif is distinct - from decorative garden-themed wall sculptures to mirrored walls covered in a white, floral-patterned decal. Since its opening in 2007, the Naumi Hotel has won various accolades for its skyrise greenery as well as the President’s Award for its design and eco-architecture.
