
Calvin Sim Chen-Min – Founding Partner & Director
Calvin Sim founded the practice in 1996 and co-helmed it with partner, Sim Boon Yang. He returned to Singapore in 1989 immediately after graduating with first-class honours in Architecture from the University of Oregon. He worked for several years as a key designer for Akitek Tenggara and Nikken Sekkei International. As Design Principal, he was responsible for work outside of Japan at Nikken; notable projects included the Hyatt Regency in Kathmandu, Nepal as well as the development on Bintan Island for Keppel Corporation and Club Med Bintan.
In less than a decade, his designs, W Resort in the Maldives has garnered "Travel + Leisure USA, Best Resort Design 2007" and the “President Design Award 2009”. Calvin’s other projects include the Metropolitan Hotel in Bangkok which won the Condé Nast Hot list 2004, Marriot Hotel Singapore, The Conrad Koh Samui, The Residence Zanzibar, The Residence Maldives, The Four Seasons Phuket, The Regent Sanya, the Rolling Stones Hotel, Bali, The Ritz-Carlton Residences Singapore and Hamilton Scotts Singapore.
