Scope: Architecture and Interior Design (40-key city hotel)

Award-winning lifestyle, urban oasis - Condé Nast Traveller (UK) 2009 Hot List

Converted from the old Metropole Hotel, the facade, with its 10-storey grey steel origami trellis, oozes style. eco.id infused art, architecture and interior design to conceptualise a new art-influenced, holistic environment at Seah Street.

Heat-shielding second skin
The living façade of climbing creepers is both expressionistic as well as a practical heat shielding second skin. The geometric topiary screen dances up the hotel like an origami ribbon. Its faceted metal perforated screens enable the cultivation of climbing and flowering creepers and in 2009, it won a "sky rise greenery" PUSH award from the National Parks/Singapore Institute of Architects.

At night, the plants are highlighted with well-concealed lighting, creating a glowing green strip that accentuates the corner of a busy street. Inside, each of the 40 luxurious rooms and suites brims with panache, and comes complete with a Naumi aide or butler to tend to your every need.
